Straight technology advice, no upsell.

Small businesses get pitched a lot of technology and given very little honest advice about it. We're the person you call before you sign the contract, switch the system, or spend the money — to tell you whether it's the right move. Software, tools, security basics, systems: practical guidance from someone who builds this stuff and has no product to push on you.

Based in Chattanooga, serving the Tennessee Valley and remote. Hourly or fixed-fee engagements. No products to upsell.

What our IT consulting covers

This is advisory work — helping you make good technology decisions and untangle problems, not a managed-services contract. Here's the kind of thing we help with.

  • Software and tool selection — what to buy for your actual needs and budget
  • Buy-vs-build decisions — when off-the-shelf is right and when custom pays off
  • Vendor and contract review — a second opinion before you sign
  • Systems and workflow review — where your tech stack is costing you time
  • Security basics — backups, passwords, MFA, the practical risks for a small business
  • Cloud and hosting guidance — what fits, what's overkill
  • Troubleshooting a specific technology problem you're stuck on
  • A technology roadmap so spending is planned, not reactive
Why us

Why businesses choose us for IT consulting

Most 'IT consulting' for small businesses is a managed-services provider trying to sell you a monthly contract, or a vendor selling their own product. We're neither — we build software, so the advice is grounded in how this stuff actually works, and we have nothing to sell you but the advice.

No product to push

We don't resell software or take vendor kickbacks, so the recommendation is the honest one. Sometimes that's 'keep what you have' or 'the free tool is fine' — advice a vendor would never give you.

Grounded in building, not just advising

We build software and run infrastructure every week, so the guidance is practical and current — not generic best-practice slides from someone who hasn't shipped anything.

Right-sized for a small business

We won't recommend enterprise tooling or enterprise process for a ten-person company. The advice fits your actual size, budget, and risk.

One-off or ongoing

Call us for a single decision, or keep us on call as a fractional technology advisor. No mandatory monthly contract.

How it works

How an IT consulting engagement runs

Most engagements are short and focused — a decision to make, a problem to solve, a plan to set.

  1. 1

    1. Tell us the question

A 30-minute call to understand the decision, problem, or goal. Often we can give you a useful first answer right there.

  2. 2

    2. Scope (if it needs more)

If the question needs research — reviewing your systems, comparing tools, auditing security — we scope a small fixed-fee or hourly engagement.

  3. 3

    3. Recommendation

You get a clear, written recommendation: what to do, why, what it costs, and what to skip. Plain English, not a vendor pitch.

  4. 4

    4. Help executing (optional)

If you want help implementing — setting up the tool, building the custom piece, fixing the problem — we can, but you're never obligated to use us for it.

Outcomes

What you get out of it

Mostly: better decisions, money not wasted, and a technology direction that fits where the business is going.

Money not wasted

A second opinion before a big purchase or switch routinely saves more than the consulting costs — by stopping a bad buy or finding a cheaper path.

Clarity

A clear answer to the technology question you've been going back and forth on, from someone with no stake in the outcome.

Lower risk

Practical security and backup basics, sized for a small business, so a preventable incident doesn't take you out.

A plan

A technology roadmap means spending is planned and intentional instead of reactive and panicked.

Questions people ask before we start.

Engagements are hourly or fixed-fee depending on scope. A single focused decision might be a short paid call; a systems or security review with a written recommendation is a small fixed-fee project. We'll quote it once we know the question.
